ZARA Tanzania Charity was founded in 2009 by Zainab Ansell, Founder and Director of Zara Tanzania Adventures. The charity grew from her experience in Tanzania’s tourism industry and her belief that tourism can contribute to the wellbeing of the communities and environments that make travel possible.

Through her work in tourism, Zainab saw firsthand the opportunities that tourism creates, as well as some of the challenges faced by children, women, families, and communities across Tanzania. This experience led her to establish ZARA Tanzania Charity as a way of giving back and supporting practical, community-focused initiatives.

Since its establishment, the charity has supported projects focused on education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, community development, and environmental conservation. The connection with tourism remains an important part of this work, bringing together travelers, tourism partners, local communities, and other supporters to contribute to projects with long-term value.
